| The
South Bend Plant was established in 1989. It has
two Dry Batch Plants on-site. The main plant is
a Ross Explorer 12 cubic yard batch size with 5
separate aggregate bins with 250 ton capacity in
plant storage, 3 separate cement silos with 1,800
barrel total capacity, a 6,000 gallon cold water
tank and an 8,000 gallon insulated tank for hot
water. The water is heated by a boiler heating system.
The main plant is fed by a 30 inch wide belt with
draws from 8 separate heated inground bins. Six
bins have a holding bapacity of 300 tons each, one
bin has a capacity of 150 ton and one loaded fed
bin is for specialty materials. There is a 2,000
ton above ground storage limestone and sand. A special
coverage bin is specifically designed for lightweight
aggregate complete with automated sprinkler system
to maintain material in a saturated state. There
are four other smaller bins for lesser demand specialty
items. Admixtures include air entraining admixture,
two water reducers, two high range water reducers,
two retarders, non-chloride accelerating admixture
and calcium chloride accelerator. The plant is computer
controlled batching by Auto Control Model 80-40.
The AUXILIARY PLANT is a Vince Hagen 10 cubic yard
batch plant. Constructed in 1994 and updated in
1997 it has 3 separate aggregate bins with 80 ton
capacity, 3 separate cement silos with 1,000 barrel
total capacity, and 6,000 gallon water tank is heated
by a boiler heating system. The admixtures available
include: air entraining admixture, two water reducers,
high range water reducer, non chloride accelerating
admixture and calcium chloride accelerator. The
unique feature of this plant incorporates the use
of a 33 foot wide remote controlled airplane hanger
type door, allowing payloader to charge aggregate
bins. The computer controlled batching is by Auto
Control Model 90-10. |
